It is estimated that one in five Canadians will experience a mental illness throughout their lifetime. Sometimes that illness leads to conflict with the criminal justice system or within the family / community.
On February 27th, join Pam Chenhall of Cumberland Mental Health and Addictions, and Stephanie Hillson of Nova Scotia Legal Aid, for a discussion about the services available in our county for those struggling with (or affected by someone else’s) mental health / addictions issues.
Additionally learn about the recent trend across Canada for therapeutic courts, what they are, and the ways in which our local Wellness Court seeks to assist those in conflict with the law due to a serious mental illness or addiction.
*Please note, the purpose of this session is to provide legal information, not legal advice. Anyone seeking advice about their specific legal situation is encouraged to meet with a lawyer privately to discuss their matter.
