What is Books By Mail?
Books By Mail is a FREE library outreach service provided for residents of Cumberland County who are unable to visit our libraries. In order to qualify for Books By Mail service you must live 5 kms or more from one of our libraries, or be physically unable to visit the library.
How Does Books By Mail Work?
You can search our catalogue to find titles or you can phone or mail in paper requests for books of interest. Books you request through the catalogue or by paper request will be mailed to you in a postage paid return envelope. You may request any book Cumberland Public Libraries own or you can request Interlibrary Loans if we do not have the book.
Is there a Fee for Books By Mail?
Books by Mail is FREE. All books are mailed to you in a return postage paid envelope. There are no overdue fines on late Books By Mail items. We understand that is sometimes takes a few days to get the mail. We will send you overdue notices as a reminder, but no fines will be charged. We will not mail out any other books until your overdue books have been returned.
How Long May I Borrow the Books?
Material may be borrowed for 3 weeks. If you need the books longer you can renew them if no one else is waiting for the items. You can renew your books by calling 667-2135 extension 229 or the library nearest you, by e-mailing Books By Mail at books.by.mail@cumberlandpubliclibraries.ca or by accessing your account online.
Collections
Books by Mail patrons have access to a large collection of books, large print material, board books, graphic novels and magazines.
